About

Hi, I'm Janine

I'm a writer, editor, digital content creator and content marketing specialist and I've been crafting captivating content for global and South African brands for over 10 years.

I've done everything from managing a response and social media team at Coca-Cola, to writing opinion pieces and columns for women's magazines and websites. I executive produce and co-host a feminist podcast called Frank, with my creative partner Tshego Senne. I blog about pop culture and write about anything from hair and beauty, to economics and politics. I live in (and love!) Johannesburg, South Africa.

I grew up in Cape Town, studied at Stellenbosch University and quickly found myself in the wonderful world of women's magazines. I've written for TRUE LOVE, ELLE South Africa, Marie Claire South Africa, Grazia South Africa and was editor-in-chief of SEVENTEEN South Africa. Now, I provide content and strategic support in the digital and social sphere.

My top 5 career highlights (so far):

  • Interviewing Michelle Obama
  • Managing a first-on-the-continent social media and response management team for Coca-Cola South Africa
  • Being editor-in-chief for seventeen South Africa
  • Interviewing Rihanna
  • Being named one of the 200 Young People to take to lunch by Mail & Guardian
